What is

Anxiety

Anxiety is a common mental health condition characterised by excessive worry, fear, and apprehension. Naturopathic medicine offers holistic strategies to address anxiety, focusing on restoring balance to the nervous system and promoting relaxation. There can be many reasons why one might suffer anxiety and it is important to spend time to understand this. A huge benefit of naturopathic medicine is the amount of time you have with your practitioner to help deduce what underlying factors might be contributing to anxiety.

Treatment options

We begin with a comprehensive assessment of your health and current state of mind to try and identify any underlying imbalances that may contribute to anxiety, including neurotransmitter imbalances, adrenal dysfunction, nutritional deficiencies, food allergies, HPA axis and gut-brain axis dysregulation. 

Depending on what might be your specific set of circumstances we use a combination of nutritional and herbal interventions to calm and soothe the nervous system to build resilience and improve the way the body handles stress. As well as feeding the nervous system the correct nutrients to help it function properly. Reducing any dysregulation that can perpetuate the cycle of anxiety. Also looking at using diet and lifestyle to improve how the overall system functions. A big part of this is usually improving gut health, in-turn improving the gut-brain axis and neurotransmitter synthesis.
